Tiny Drive is the file and image upload management solution for TinyMCE. Since the release of Tiny Drive last fall, we’ve added multi-user support and the ability to set a maximum image dimension, and today brings another exciting expansion of Drive functionality.
Tiny Drive starter packages
These starter packages will make it much easier to set up Drive and run it locally. The packages are are also a direct result of feedback from our users letting us know that the initial setup for Drive could be challenging, so a big thank you to those users that took the time to get in touch with us.
Dropbox and Google Drive integrations
Starting today, you can now integrate your Tiny Drive instance with Dropbox and/or Google Drive. The Dropbox and Google Drive integrations give you two ways to easily import your assets into Tiny Drive.
Type-based file selection
Today also brings the addition of type-based file selection to Drive. This means that Drive is now smarter about the type of file you want to insert into the editor. For example, if you select “Insert / Image” from the toolbar, Tiny Drive will only show you image files, saving you from having to browse through non-image files.
In the weeks ahead we’ll be bringing you a standalone version of Drive, meaning that you can add use Drive functionality without an editor toolbar. For example, you could use standalone Drive if you wanted to add file attachment and upload capability to a form. We’ll also be adding the ability to preview videos within Drive.
