Welcome to the TinyMCE 5 Developer Challenge!
We announced our developer preview release of TinyMCE 5 last October, and since then, there has been some terrific developer participation. But we’d like even more feedback from the community.
We’re interested in having developers build a new plugin or recreate a TinyMCE 4 plugin with our new user interface API, and report any issues to us via Github. We want to hear about your experience working with the new API, what documentation works, and what is missing.
Between now and Feb 28th, we will send some cool Tiny swag to any developer who submits a Github issue that is accepted by our engineering team.
And from all the accepted Github issues, our engineering team will decide on the three issues that are the most helpful, and those three developers will receive their choice of a $500 gift card to either Newegg or Amazon.
To get started:
- Go to the TinyMCE 5 product page for access to the latest cloud and self-hosted versions of the editor
- Review the brand new TinyMCE 5 UI documentation
- Review the core API documentation
- Build your plugin
- Submit your issues via Github
If you don’t have the time to participate, please enter your email address below to sign up for our monthly Tiny Developer Newsletter. We will announce future developer challenges in the newsletter, in addition to all the other important product and engineering news you need as a Tiny developer.

“Review the core API documentation” link is broken for me.
Hey Jamie — thanks for pointing that out. It’s now fixed, and here’s the direct link: https://www.tiny.cloud/docs/api/
